Company "C", 6th Battalion, 15th Artillery Regiment, 1st Infantry Division
While serving with his battery at a line support base just 58 days after arriving in country, and under heavy massive Viet Cong ground assault, Bobby immediately and repeatedly ran through flying shrapnel exposing himself to the incoming rounds to supply his gun section with needed ammunition. With complete disregard for safety, he continued supplying the needed ammunition throughout the attack, hearing intensive hostel fire as his section delivered a constant bray of rounds with deadly speed and accuracy. While crossing a torturous open area with the vital ammunition, Bobby was mortally wounded by enemy line. He was posthumously decorated for valor with the Bronze Star.
