Reading Railroad Station
Schuylkill Haven Heritage Trail
The Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Passenger Headquarters was once the passenger depot of the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad. Construction began in 1901 and the station opened in 1902. The station was considered one of the most impressive on the rail line at that time. This circa 1906 image shows the station before the new freight station was constructed on the opposite side of the tracks in 1914. It served the town well until the final Reading Company passenger train stopped here on June 30, 1981. The station was the Borough Hall from 1989 to 2015 when it was purchased by the Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad.
