Echo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division

Rick trained in Artillery Fire Direction Control requiring math expertise where he relayed fire mission data to the 105mm Howitzers. While on Okinawa he shipped out to Mt. Fuji, Japan and the Philippines where he also served in a 50 caliber machine gun crew. While aboard the USS Juneau (LPD-10) he deployed to Vietnam for the Easter offensive of 1972. Later at Camp Lejeune he was with a 155mm mechanized battery where the unit sallied twice to Vieques, Puerto Rico.

Enlisted 17 February 1971 at Ft. Jackson, Columbia, SC-Honorably Discharged 28 February 1973 at Camp Lejeune, NC
