A Construction Surveyor, while serving in Vietnam Dick was decorated for exceptional performance, leadership, technical knowledge, and the quality and precision of his work while having total responsibility for surveying an airfield and cantonments for 34,200 men assigned to various commands throughout the 79th Engineer Group's area of responsibility.
