Inscription.
The Durham & Southern Railway built the Varina Station's Depot in 1910. After 1914, the Depot served as a Union Depot for Durham & Southern and Norfolk & Southern for many years.
J. E. Brown, followed by Katherine Brown, were agents from 1911-1977. The Depot closed in 1977.
Attempts were made to preserve the building as a historical site but were not successful. The area around Varina Station was the Depot's original location. In 2003 the Depot was purchased by Bill Akins, moved to its current location and restored. In 2009 the Varina Station started operation as Aviator Tap House serving beer brewed in Fuquay-Varina.
