due to lack of ammunition. Two of them, however, escaped into rue Chauveau-Lagarde and manage to return to the City.

Brigadier Alphonse Maury, of the Traffic Companies, group leader, had a grenade on him, which was found as he was searched: he was shot on the spot with a bullet to the stomach. The other police officers were taken to rue d’Astorg, where they suffered three hours of ill-treatment, then to Mont-Valérien to be shot. They were then the subject of simulated shootings, finally being exchanged on the 24th for Germans detained at the PP.
