Sherman Oaks Veterans Memorial
American Legion Post No. 193 Van Nuys dedicates this memorial in honor of those veterans from the Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks area who served honorably in the armed forces of the United States of America during World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama and the Persian Gulf conflicts.
Some gave their lives, and all made sacrifices, to preserve freedom and democracy for peoples of all nations in a continuous quest for international peace.
Erected 1996 by American Legion Post No. 193 Van Nuys.

More about this memorial. The Van Nuys / Sherman Oaks park property was deeded to the city in 1947 with a clause that it must remain as a war memorial park in perpetuity. The city acquired the property with assistance from the Van Nuys Sherman Oaks War Memorial Park Association, Inc. and funding from the State.
