1. The Little White Church Marker
Inscription.
The Little White Church was built in 1889 of lumber sawed at the mill of the Harney Peak Mining Company which was located four miles east of Hill City on County Road 323. The sawyer was Charlie Clifford; the Chief Carpenter, Joe Hare with three helpers, Billy Webster, Del Canfield and Emory Harold with many volunteer laborers. The building was completed in 1890. With some remodeling and the building of an annex, the church retains a strong resemblance to its original design. It was first a Presbyterian Church; then became a Congregational Church in 1915. The church incorporated in 1959 and is now a non-denominational church.
