Grapevine in Tarrant County, Texas — The American South (West South Central)
"Coming Home"
Grapevine Veterans Memorial
The soldier heart remembers home: the mother’s goodbye embrace, the stay-behind spouse's brave farewell, the baby’s happy ignorance of having a parent suddenly away.
These are not generals or admirals calumniating years of preparation for war. They are instead civilians, citizen soldiers called from farms and shops and even churches to defend liberty in the face of tyranny in unfamiliar corners of the world.
The view of Grapevine veterans about their comrades who died in war: "They gave us all of their tomorrows.”
Artist: Michael Pavlovsky
Erected 2000 by Veterans Statue Committee.
