Sonarman 3rd Class, U. S. Navy - World War II Pacific Theater
USS Heyward L. Edwards (DD-663)

Enlisting at the age of 17 which required the signature of both parents, Bob trained as a Sonar Technician and served aboard the Edwards, a Fletcher class destroyer, and saw action and participated in the battles at Saipan, Tinian, Peleliu, Leyte, Suriago Strait, Luzon, Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

Enlisted 31 August 1943, Oneonta, NY - Honorably Discharged 18 March 1946, US Naval Base, Bremerton, WA
