La Ciudad Honra a sus Funcionarios
Miguel Ángel Navarro (arquitecto) y Joaquín Tobajas (escultor)
Materiales: Latón y cobre (ornamentación); granito (pedestal y obelisco)

Monumento conmemorativo dedicado a los trabajadores municipals asesinados en acto de servicio, el 23 de Agosto de 1920. Erigido cuatro años después en el tramo final del Paseo de la Independencia y trasladado a este lugar en 1961.

This commemorative monument is dedicated to municipal workers killed in the line of duty on August 23, 1920. It was erected four years later on the final stretch of the Paseo de la Independencia and moved to this place in 1961.

Regarding Municipal Employees Killed in 1920. The three men were shot and killed as they repaired broken street lamps. The lamps had most likely been broken as part of a lamplighters' strike in the city.
