During the war, Harry, or the "Sheriff as he was fondly nicknamed by his shipmates, and his ship, the PC-479, were assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific theater of operations. They took part in the following operations: Bismark Archipelago, Arawe, New Britain; the LaVella occupation: and, eastern New Guinea and the Saldor occupation. Following the war the ship was assigned to Occupation and China service.
