1. Wood Shed Marker
Inscription. Until the 1950s, the house was heated by a wood-burning furnace. All wood for the furnace was stored in the Wood Shed, from which it would have been carried down the outside basement steps (immediately behind you). In the basement, a supply of wood equal to one or more days needs would be maintained. As it was depleted, it would be replenished - usually the job of a young boy in the family.
