Inscription.
This Gazebo is presented to the Medal of Honor Grove by the family of Marine Corps Capt. Brian T. Kennedy, of Malvern, Pennsylvania, to honor him and the 11 other Marines killed in a night flying training exercise on January 14, 2016, off the coast of Oahu, Hawaii. Capt. Kennedy, 31, was a graduate of Conestoga High School and the U.S. Naval Academy, where he was commissioned an officer in the Marine Corps in 2007. The family of Capt. Kennedy hopes that their gift of this place of rest within the hallowed grounds of the Medal of Honor Grove will offer visitors an opportunity to pause and reflect on the courage and sacrifices of all who have served in the U.S. military.

"I always enjoyed my visits to the Grove. The one thing that resonated was that while [Medal of Honor] recipients were honored, the Grove also represented sacrifices and memories of all who served to protect our freedom. The addition of this gazebo honoring the memory of those who died training for the dangerous job of warfighting reminds us that sacrifices come in many forms." JUNE 11, 2020
--Army Maj. (Ret.) Drew Dix, Medal of Honor recipient for actions in Vietnam. Past President of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society
