— Type of Architecture: Italianate Style —
• Built in 1909 and modeled after the Des Moines Fire Station, the Oskaloosa Fire Station originally stood two stories high.
• The first floor of the 1909 structure housed horses, wagons, and steam engines, while the second floor provided hay storage and fireman's quarters.
• In 1911, the addition of City Hall resulted in the construction of a third floor.
• In 2017, the city completed an addition the fire station that models historic features and accommodates modern equipment.
