Taos Pueblo Revolt of 1847
In 1847, Taos Pueblo Indians revolted against the occupation of the United States military. United States troops destroyed the original San Geronimo Mission where they believed Pueblo members had taken refuge. The destroyed mission is now being used as a cemetery. The Taos Pueblo people were never conquered and have maintained
