　Pella's Past (North Side)
Dominie Hendrik Pieter Scholte was leader of 800 Hollanders who arrived here in 1847 to found Pella, the City of Refuge. He is baptizing an infant, characterizing new life in the religious sense and symbolic of the new life these Hollanders came here to enjoy.

Mareah Scholte, was the wife of Hendrik Scholte. Mareah is weeping, because upon arriving in Pella, she discovered that all but one of her good dishes from Holland was broken, and because she had to live in a "log cabin".

The blacksmith, working at his forge, represents the working man and the early industry of Pella and new Americans everywhere. The hard work and dedication of our forefathers made this town and these United States prosper and grow.

Wyatt Earp is known to most Americans as a famous lawman of the wild West. He is familiar to Pella as the youngster who lived on East Franklin Street. His home is a part of the Pella Historical Museum, one block east.

Each May, when the tulips are blooming, Pella celebrates its Dutch heritage in a three day festival called Tulip Time. The
