Along with the first contingent of Engineers to land in Vietnam, Dick was a General Supply Specialist and also served as Company Armorer and Mall Clerk. He served at both Vung Tan with the 46th and at Qui Nhon with the 64th, the temporary home of the battalion until its later move to Da Nang in 1970.
