Richard was responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of data display equipment, their peripheral equipment and interfaces with various radars and weapons systems. He served at several short commands and onboard the USS Mississippi (CGN-40), USS Briscoe (DD-977), and USS Fletcher (DD-992) Richard also participated in Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) operations in the Mediterranean and Red Seas, Persian Gulf, and Indian, Pacific and Adanik Oceans-accompanying photo depicts him returning with boarding team from VESS Op aboard vessel in background.
