1. Wells Fargo Express Office Marker
Inscription. Originally a two-story building that housed the Wells Fargo Express Office as well as retail space. By 1908 the third story had been added. The building is an excellent example of World's Fair Classic Architecture.
 
Erected by Las Vegas Citizens' Committee for Historic Preservation.

Regarding Wells Fargo Express Office. From Wells Fargo's “This Day in History”:
April 14, 1881 Wells Fargo opened for business in Las Vegas, New Mexico. “A wagon will call two or three times a day in both east and west town and parties having goods to express can send them to the office without further trouble,” reported the local newspaper.
