This courtyard is given in memory of
Alletta Laird Downs
Letty Downs attended Tower Hill from 1921 to 1929 and was a lifelong, generous supporter of the school. She was an advocate of quiet philanthropy, never seeking public credit or acknowledgment. Her significant scholarship support allowed many to benefit from a Tower Hill education.
This courtyard is a celebration of some of the core values that Letty Downs practiced throughout her lifetime: honoring those who served their country, providing educational opportunities to many, and embracing the beauties of nature by surrounding oneself with flowers and trees. In keeping with her example, the courtyard is given anonymously in her memory.
