Company H, 175th Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, 9th Army
Inducted 13 December 1943, following Basic Training Reed trained in Heavy Weapons and later as a Radiowas. Landing at Omaha Beach after D-Day he fought in the French hedgerows of Normandy. After "breakthrough" they fought on to Saint Le and the Battle of Brest taking 30,000 German prisoners from the sub pens. Continuing on through Holland and Germany, they fought and crossed the Roer River. Reed, wounded during the war, was discharged on 21 February 1946 at PL. Dix.
