1. 23rd and Green Bay Marker
Inscription. The United States Naval Reserve was organized in La Crosse in 1946. This Navy training center was commissioned by Rear Admiral J. Cary Jones on December 14, 1949. Reservists from southwestern Wisconsin, northern Iowa and southeastern Minnesota meet and train at this center.
 
Erected 1999 by the City of La Crosse, the City's Historic Preservation Commission and the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. (Marker Number 16.)
