1. Plant 4 Marker
Inscription. The team in Plant 4 was the first on the mile to build products like tree spades and stump cutters serving our customers managing natural resources. Built in 1979, there was a growing need for these products. Dutch elm disease had wiped out 77 million trees in the U.S. between 1930 and 1970, driving the need for stump cutters and brush chippers.

In 1998, Vermeer began a continuous improvement journey looking to remove waste and inefficiency from spaces and processes. Vermeer implemented the first of what was known as the "model line" in Plant 4. This helped shape the way our current production lines look today, turning raw steel into finished product more efficiently than ever.

Today, the team in Plant 4 builds a variety of brush chippers, mini skid steers, pedestrian trenchers, stump cutters, tub grinders and whole tree chippers. Some of these products were previously built in Plant 5, which was constructed in 1984. When Plant 5 was destroyed in the 2018 tornado, the Plant 4 team brought many of the Plant 5 product lines to their shop floor.
