This center for innovation is home to some of our inventive engineers responsible for building and testing the next generation of Vermeer equipment. The name Shop 48 pays homage to our company's humble beginnings as a small job shop started by founder Gary Vermeer in 1948.

Once located in separate areas throughout each plant on the mile, some of our engineering team was moved to various offsite locations to make space for manufacturing following the July 2018 tornado. This ultimately made the team stronger as they continued to innovate — despite working across central Iowa.

Shop 48 brings these teams back onsite, with an enhanced focus on collaboration in dedicated spaces for designing, testing and building. Along with the engineering teams in the front offices of each plant, these team members are passionate about designing new innovations to help make an impact on our customers. With a legacy built on problem-solving, we can't wait to see what solutions come next.
