1. Old Town Fact: Marker
Inscription. In 1887, Rock Hill's first telephone line, which ran from the Rock Hill Buggy Company office to the freight train depot, was installed by John Gary Anderson in order to receive timely information about deliveries. This small telephone system laid the foundation for the Rock Hill Telephone Company which was established in 1895.
