1. Baker Beam Home Marker
Inscription. Welcome to the Baker Beam Home, named after Jim Beam's great-nephew, Baker, who lived & worked here as the Clermont plant distiller.

Built in 1911, the Beam family has called this house "home" since 1934 - the year Jim Beam's son T. Jeremiah moved in to oversee the rebuilding of the plant after prohibition. Before then, the building had been used as a boarding house for railroad men, coopers and government distillery gangers.

In 1947, T. Jeremiah moved out and his cousin Carl Beam, who had been named Master Distiller by Jim, moved in. Carl and his wife Edna resided in the house until 1972. Together they raised their children, Baker, David and Carliss, here.

Later, upon Carl's retirement, Baker moved back into the house to oversee the running of the plant. Every morning, he made the short walk down Beam hill to manage and make sure the product was worthy of the Beam name.

Because of its location on the distillery grounds, and the role Jim and Jeremiah played in restoring the bourbon business in Kentucky, the home earned a spot on the National Registry of Historic Places. Although no longer used as a family residence, it remains an iconic reminder of the Beam family heritage and a symbol of their perseverance. To this day, the family uses the house as a meeting place and office to conduct distillery
