Investing In Education
Cridersville was established in 1856. As the new village grew, a local one-room school was built in 1866 on East Main Street. Over years of growth, a new larger school was built on South Waverly Street in 1875 and it was replaced in 1907. As the village continued to grow, a much larger and more modern school was built on East Main Street in 1939.
This new school housed grades 1-12. It served generations of Cridersville students until 1966 when the last Senior Class graduated. In 1965, the local school merged with the Wapakoneta School District. The Cridersville building served as an elementary school for local students until 2009, when it was replaced by the new school on Reichelderfer Road. The site of the school on Main Street became Legacy Park.
