The Place For Basketball and More. . In 1924, the Cridersville School District built its first gymnasium behind the school that was built on S. Waverly Street in 1907. It became known as the Community It was the location of many community events. In addition to its basketball court, it contained a stage that was the site of plays, band concerts, and graduation ceremonies. On its court, the Cridersville basketball teams-boys and girls-competed against area rivals before standing-room-only crowds. Local teams were very successful. They often won county championships. In 1941 the boys team won the district championship. The Community Hall was replaced by a much larger gymnasium in 1952. It was attached to the school built on this site in 1939. The new elementary school, built in 2009 on Reichelderfer Road, included a new gymnasium and stage for the community.
