Serving in the U. S., England, France and Germany, Ted and LaRue, as medical professionals, cared for allled military personnel, POWs and civilians. While witnessing one of the ultimate horrors of the war, the Nazi concentration and extermination camp at Dachau, they had the distinct privilege of caring for and repatriating the few surviving Internees of that Hell on earth. Both were honorably discharged in late 1945 after the end of WWII.
