Company "A", 86th Engineer Battalion (Heavy Pontoon)
A Mess Sergeant with the 86th, a bridge building battalion, John was responsible for ensuring the troops were adequately fed, both in the field and while in garrison. He participated in the European campaign fighting at Normandy, in Northern France, the Rhineland, Ardennes Alsace, and Central Europe.
