Inscription.  Benvenuti al Vittoriano. Il monumento al re Vittorio Emanuele II fu costruito a partire dal 1885 su progetto di Giuseppe Sacconi e inaugurato nel 1911 in occasione dei primi cinquant'anni dell'Unità d'Italia. Da destra a sinistra ecco la fontana con il Mar Tirreno di Pietro Canonica, Il Diritto di Ettore Ximenes, Il Sacrificio di Leonardo Bistolfi e, in bronzo, L'Azione di Francesco Jerace.

Welcome to the Vittoriano. Designed by Giuseppe Sacconi, the monument - construction of which started in 1885 - was erected in honour of King Victor Emmanuel II and inaugurated in 1911 on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Unification of Italy. From right to left, you can see the fountain with the Tyrrhenian Sea by Pietro Canonica, Law by Ettore Ximenes, Sacrifice by Leonardo Bistolfi and the bronze statue entitled Action by Francesco Jerace.
