Inscription.  Benvenuti al Vittoriano. Il monumento al re Vittorio Emanuele II fu costruito a partire dal 1885 su progetto di Giuseppe Sacconi e inaugurato nel 1911 in occasione dei primi cinquant'anni dell'Unitΰ d'Italia. Da sinistra a destra ecco le rovine classiche del Monumento a Gaio Publicio Bibulo, la fontana con il Mar Adriatico di Emilio Quadrelli, La Forza di Augusto Rivalta, La Concordia di Lodovico Pogliaghi e, in bronzo, Il Pensiero di Giulio Monteverde.

Welcome to the Vittoriano. Designed by Giuseppe Sacconi, the monument - construction of which started in 1885 - was erected in honour of King Victor Emmanuel II and inaugurated in 1911 on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Unification of Italy. From left to right are the classical ruins of the monument to Gaius Publicius Bibulus, the fountain with the Adriatic Sea by Emilio Quadrelli, Strength by Augusto Rivalta, Concord by Lodovico Pogliaghi and the bronze statue entitled Thought by Giulio Monteverde.
