Regarding First Congregational Church of Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina. Excerpt from the National Register nomination:
The ,church is the second house of worship for a congregation that was formally organized in 1900 under the leadership of J. C. McClean and the auspices of the New England based Congregational Church. The church replaced the original 1906 frame structure that burned in 1918. The present house of worship was erected between 1918 and 1921 by a local stonemason and church deacon, Robert Franklin Lynn. He was assisted by Calvin Bost.
