1. John C. Argue Marker
Inscription. Led the Los Angeles bid for the 1984 Olympic Games and revolutionized the Olympic movement by insistence on private-sector organization, leading to the most successful games in history. Recipient of the Olympic Order in 1992, the highest honor awarded by the International Olympic Committee. Respected attorney and tireless civic leader. He served his beloved city as chairman of the Amateur Athletic Foundation, Los Angeles Sports Council, Rose Hills Foundation and the Southern California Committee for the Olympic Games. A 1956 graduate of the USC School of Law, he served his alma mater with distinction on the USC Board of Trustees from 1984 to 2002, and as chairman of the Board of Trustees from 2000 to 2002.
