Father of the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, the first major indoor sports facility in Southern California.
Commission representative to the 1963 Billy Graham Crusade which attracted a record-setting crowd of 134,254 people.
Spearheaded the 1958 campaign to bring the Dodgers to Los Angeles, where the team set attendance records at the Memorial Coliseum in the 1959 World Series against the Chicago White Sox.
Assisted planning efforts of the 1960 Democratic Convention at the Memorial Sports Arena, where John F. Kennedy was nominated for President of the United States and gave his acceptance speech at the Memorial Coliseum.
Delegation member of the Los Angeles Olympic bid committee, which travelled to Athens, Greece to secure the 1984 Olympic Games for Los Angeles.
