Inscription. The Wabash River, quiet farms, and county fairs provide the backdrop for the home of Ernie Pyle, who was born and grew up near Dana. As a Pulitzer Prize winning author and World War II combat reporter, Pyle wrote about the average American soldier in his front-line reports to American newspapers.
