1. The Palace Marker
Inscription. Known as the Hollywood Playhouse Theatre when it opened in 1927. Later, as the El Capitan, then as the NBC Radio Theatre and finally the Hollywood Palace, it was home for Ken Murray's "Blackouts", The Colgate Comedy Hour, Lawrence Welk Show, Hollywood Palace Variety Show, This Is Your Life, and The Jerry Lewis Show among others. In 1952, the first nationally-televised telethon occurred here to raise funds for the U.S. Olympic team, with Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Johnny Grant.
