Trained as a Radar Operator, Gannet, and Flight Enginer, Cliff served as Aircrew with VFB-74 flying Martin PBM & Mariners.
The squadron flew patrol missions hunting enemy submarines, running barrier patrols, escorting convoys and performing sea rescues.
They were deployed from the Atlantic Fleet to Fleet Air Wing Three in the Panama Sica Frontier at Seymour Island, the Galapagos Archipelago, Ecuador, and Coco Solo, Canal Zone.
