An auto equipment operator and heavy truck driver in the European Theater of Operations, Ray drove every type of equipment from light trucks to half-tracks, including refueling tankers in a fighter squadron. He served in 6 campaigns: Normandy, Southern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe and Northern France.
