A Browning Automatic Rifleman, John deployed to Europe and joined Patton's 3rd Army where he was involved in battles in the Saar Region and later, during the Battle of the Bulge, he was promoted to Squad Leader.

Inducted 24 Mar 43, Binghamton, NY
Honorably Discharged 16 August 1945, Camp Butner, NC
