7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division

A Machine Gun Crewman and NCO Guard, Russell served for 26 months in China and was later wounded-in-action during the long, bitter and frigid cold fight at the Chosin Reservoir, the "Frozen Chosin."

Enlisted 22 January 1916, Syracuse, NY - Honorably Discharged 1 April 1952, Marine Barracks, USNB, Brooklyn, NY
