3rd Platoon, B Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Infantry, 1st Infantry Division

A Combat Medic or Corpsman, and "Doc" to his fellow soldiers, Bill was responsible for their health and welfare in garrison and the emergency treatment and care of their wounds in the field during combat operations... including Stopping or controlling bleeding, maintaining airways, starting IV's, dressing of wounds, and preparing them for evacuation to a field hospital for a higher level of care. Bill was himself wounded-in-action near Phuoc Vinh, Vietnam during a mission in which his platoon provided operational security for an Army road construction project.
