Inscription.
He created and directed Helms Athletic Foundation, organized and served as president of three baseball leagues, compiled the most extensive sports library in the world, spearheaded many charity fund-raising athletic events, helped found the Coliseum relays, Junior Rose Bowl game and Shrine High North-South game, and promoted the Olympic movement throughout the world.

He was keeper of the greatest memories in sports, honored over 100,000 athletes with medals and trophies, and was a pioneer in recognition of high school athletes. His tireless enthusiasm and willingness to lend a helping hand to all sports programs endeared him to three generations.

He gave sports a meaning.
No one will ever care as much about athletics and the athletes.

Regarding W.R."Bill" Schroeder. The Helms Athletic Foundation, founded in 1936, was a Los Angeles-based organization dedicated to the promotion of athletics and sportsmanship. Paul H. Helms was the organization's benefactor, funding the foundation via his ownership of Helms Bakery. Bill Schroeder founded the organization with Helms and served as its managing director.
Following the closure of Helms Bakery in 1969, Schroeder sought new benefactors, and the organization continued under a series of new sponsors. Schroeder died in 1987. Under the direction of Peter Ueberroth the Helms Athletic Foundation collection, library, and archives were absorbed into the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles, later renamed the LA84 Foundation.
