Regarding Lafayette's Tour. On April 5, 1825, Revolutionary War hero the Marquis de la Lafayette visited Claiborne during his trip to Mobile (Mobile County), at James Dellet’s request, and he hosted celebrations for the visiting dignitary. Lafayette also reportedly dedicated this Perdue Hill Masonic Lodge, which was built in 1823 and is considered to be one of the state’s oldest standing buildings. Dellet was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives.

In 1984, the Masonic Lodge #3 was dismantled and moved from Claiborne to this location in Perdue Hill.
