1. Bataan-Corregidor Memorial Bridge Marker
Inscription. Dedicated to the memory of those gallant heroes from the Chicago area who were members of the besieged garrison on the Bataan Peninsula and at Corregidor, Philippine Islands, in World War II.

May the courage and fortitude displayed by this group in the face of adversity be a constant inspiration to our citizens.

This photo is of the predecessor State Street Bridge, taken from the south side of the Chicago River, approximately where Wacker Drive sits today; where this marker is located today would approximately be on the left side in the far distance. The caption from the Chicago History Museum: "View from South Water Street of State Street Bridge, Chicago, Illinois, circa 1905. Pedestrians and horse-drawn vehicles are waiting to cross bridge. State Street Bridge was one of the first rolling-lift or bascule bridges."
