Huis oorspronkelijk uit 1613 gebouwd op terrein van het stadskasteel van Cornelis van Borssele. Van 1674 tot 1690 bewoond door Govert van Slingelandt, heer van Dubbeldam, pensionaris van Dordrecht, gedeputeerde ter Staten-Generaal, secretaris van de Raad van State, diplomaat en aanhanger van Johan de Witt. In 1745 werd hier op 102-jarige leeftijd Susanna de La Piemante-Huguetan vermoord. Van 1950 tot 1959 vestiging van de Amerikaanse Voorlichtingsdienst.

House originally built in 1613 on the grounds of Cornelis van Borssele's city-castle. From 1674 to 1690 inhabited by Govert van Slingelandt, lord of Dubbeldam, pensionary of Dordrecht, deputy to the States General, secretary of the Council of State, diplomat and supporter of Johan de Witt. In 1745, Susanna de La Piemante-Huguetan was murdered here at the age of 102. From 1950 to 1959, branch of the American Information Service.
