Rounded corner bays, a feature of many early skyscrapers, enliven the silhouette of the Old Colony Building. Continuous vertical piers divide the long Dearborn Street faηade into tall, narrow sections, while continuous horizontal spandrels visually widen the narrow Van Buren Street faηade.

More about this marker. Based on Google Maps Street View, the marker was posted in its current location sometime after 2021. However, the marker displays some signs of wear related to age, which indicates that it was likely affixed somewhere on the building and possibly removed for an extensive, multi-year renovation that concluded in the mid-2010s.

According to the Library of Congress, this photo was taken by photographer Harold Allen on May 24, 1964. The foreground remains a parking lot today, and the Plymouth Building to its immediate right and the Manhattan Building next to that are both still in existence.
