Here, in 1871, the town and farm lots of Andrew Glassell IV and Alfred B. Chapman were offered to prospective buyers by the tract's resident agent, Captain William T. Glassell. Agent Glassell maintained two seedling orange trees in front of his office-residence, as curiosities to entice settlers.
Erected 1976 by Orange County Board of Supervisors; and Orange County Historical Commission. (Marker Number 18.)
