1. Bracken Building Marker
Inscription. Built c. 1873 by Dr. William Bracken, this excellent Italianate commercial building displays decorative cornice work and unique rope trim on the upper window hoods. Dr. Bracken originally lived and worked in the west portion, which later housed a number of groceries and clothing stores until 1985. The eastern space has been utilized by a line of jewelers as early as 1881, ending with Huntington Jewelry in 1988. The local Council of the Knights of Columbus (no. 1042) met on the second floor from 1906 to c.1918.
